Awen Films is an award-winning nonfiction production company based in Brooklyn, NY. The word “awèn” means “person” in the Lenape language, and this is also the driving idea behind the group’s mission: to produce and support documentary projects that focus on stories of the human condition. The Awen Films team provides creative services from pre-production to post-production and works with clients to create mini docs and branded docs. Awen Films has produced independent documentary shorts and features that have been screened at top film festivals worldwide.
Director / Cinematographer
Valerio Ciriaci is a Brooklyn based documentary filmmaker. He graduated with a major in Communication Sciences from La Sapienza University in Rome with a thesis on Jean Rouch and ethno-fiction. In 2011 he moved to New York City to attend documentary classes at New York Film Academy. In 2012 he cofounded Awen Films and directed two short documentary films: “Melodico“, and “Treasure – The Story of Marcus Hook“. His first feature documentary film, “If Only I Were That Warrior,” was awarded the 2016 Italian Golden Globe for best documentary.
ISAAK J. LIPTZIN
Producer / Cinematographer
Born in San Francisco, Isaak grew up and studied in Italy until 2009, when he moved to New York to attend photography and imaging classes at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. In 2012 he cofounded Awen Films, and worked as cinematographer and producer on “Melodico” (2013), “Treasure — The Story of Marcus Hook” (2013), and other projects.
